English Vintage Minton Pink Cockatrice Teacup Trio
SKU: 202603286314
This is a "trio" teacup set by Minton, acclaimed as the "most beautiful bone china in the world," boasting artistic beauty.
The Chinoiserie style design, called "Cockatrice," born from an admiration for 18th-century Oriental porcelain, features noble phoenixes and blooming peonies depicted in breathtakingly vivid rose pink.
What is particularly noteworthy is the unique history this set has walked. Decoding the backstamps reveals that the saucer was made in 1912, at the end of the Edwardian era, while the cup and plate were made in 1951, in the mid-century. In the UK, there was a culture of cherishing and passing down beloved tableware through generations, even if a part broke, by purchasing replacements with the same pattern.
The fact that pieces separated by approximately 40 years now show perfect harmony as a single set tells a warm story of how they have been treasured by their successive owners.
