This is a Russian 875 silver cigarette case from around 1900.
Both lids are decorated with niello inlay.
The front and back have different designs, with the front featuring a carriage design and the back featuring a cartouche design with a monogram presumably the first owner's initials engraved in a fine mesh pattern.
The lid opens automatically with a spring when you press the button, and it closes smoothly and snugly.

Appearance: ★★★★☆ Excellent condition with no noticeable scratches or stains

Function: ★★★★☆ Slight deterioration but no major issues

- There is wear and tear over the years, scratches on the corners, and some peeling on the black and gold parts, but it has been well-maintained and is in beautiful condition.
The gold plating on the inside has worn off but is still there. The rubber band inside is missing.
- Both lids have the Russian 875 silver hallmark (kokoshnik) on the inside
Opening and closing is smooth and there is no wobbling of the hinges.

*This is a very old item, so there are small scratches and stains due to aging.
