This is a cameo brooch with an 800 silver base.
Judging from the color and shape of the cameo, it is assumed to be a shell cameo made from shells.
A woman's profile is delicately carved from natural seashell.
The sterling silver base is elaborately crafted with small marcasites embedded in it.
The brand and era are unknown but it is thought to have been imported to the UK from continental Europe.
