1885 British Antique Sterling Silver Mug 120g Mappin & Webb
SKU: 202401204038
Introducing British antique sterling silver mugs.
This is a cup called a christening cup.
It seems that they were given as baby gifts to children born into wealthy families such as aristocrats.
This is a piece made in 1885 by MAPPIN & WEBB, a high-end jewelry store that is a purveyor to the British royal family.
Although the form is simple, it has detailed hand-carved carvings with flower motifs.
There is a message engraved on the bottom with a breast message given in 1945, but this was probably added at a later date.
There is a dent as shown in the 8th photo, but there is no water leakage or wobbling.
We hope this lovely silver cup will add color to your day!
