Antique Escasany Hnos Hunter-Case Engraved 800 Silver Open-Face Pocket Watch, Good Working Order

This Swiss-made 800 silver open-face pocket watch was sold by Escasany Hnos (Escasany Brothers), a prestigious jeweler and watchmaker in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in the early 20th century.

The gold-tone dial features wavy guilloché engraving, the name “DIANA,” after the goddess of the hunt, and classic Breguet numerals. The caseback strikingly depicts two hunters aiming their rifles from behind a fallen tree in the forest, rendered in dimensional high relief.

There is some age-related patina on the dial, scuffing on the crystal and case, and wear along the edges, but the movement is running well. This is a lovely piece to display on a study desk and enjoy its timekeeping, as though admiring a work of sculpture.
