This sterling silver pincushion was made in Birmingham, England, in 1908 by the master craftsman W J Myatt & Co.
Crafted in the charming form of a waterfowl, popular during the Edwardian period, delicate feather relief details, expertly carved by a skilled artisan, are richly rendered with depth and shadow. The deep burgundy velvet and the luster of sterling silver, which has mellowed gracefully over more than a century, create an elegant harmony.
Although there are minor polishing marks characteristic of antiques, there are no noticeable dents or distortions, and it is in good condition. It will add a calm and refined touch to your daily life, whether as a sewing companion or as a small decorative object adorning a desk in your study or a display shelf.
