This is a limited edition 50 pence proof commemorative silver coin, issued in 2019 by the British Royal Mint to celebrate "Sherlock Holmes," the famous detective created by Arthur Conan Doyle. Only 7,500 pieces were issued.

The center features a silhouette of Holmes in his deerstalker hat and smoking a pipe, surrounded by the delicate engravings of titles from many of his masterpieces, such as "The Hound of the Baskervilles." The beautiful sterling silver with its mirror finish is appealing not only to mystery fans but also as a high-quality modern collectible.

It comes with a special case and certificate, making it suitable for display in a study. There is a slight tarnish (discoloration) unique to silver around the edge of the coin, which should be enjoyed as part of the material's character.
