This is a work by "Nathan & Hayes" from Birmingham, England, made in 1911.
Made from a type of gourd called "carabash" from South Africa, its U-shaped curved form is synonymous with "Sherlock Holmes."
This is a fairly large type of calabash pipe, with a total length of 22cm.
The bowl top and the joints are decorated with pure silver decorative parts.
Although the mouthpiece is chipped, it is still in usable condition.
