Antique Hungarian Brauswetter Janos pocket watch, silver side Niello decoration, hunter case, in good working order
SKU: 202507125537
We will be showcasing antique pocket watches.
"Brauswetter Janos" appears to have been a Hungarian watchmaker active in the 19th century, and the words "Brauswetter Janos, Szegeden" are inscribed on the dial, case, and movement.
This watch has a case inlaid with black alloy material on a silver base called Niello.
The front cover is decorated with a large bird in the forest, and the back cover is decorated with a detailed niello design of a hunter and hounds aiming at the bird, with the bird part being gold-plated.
The black part of the Niello case is fragile and often peels off, but this one has almost no peeling or chipping, and the dial and movement are in very good condition.
It is unknown if it has been overhauled, but the balance wheel is in good condition and ticks along smoothly.
We hope this once-in-a-lifetime encounter will be a special one for you!
