This is a work by American artist Black Starr Frost, thought to be from around 1900.
The entire piece is decorated with beautiful embossed floral motifs, and the lid is engraved with a monogram that is believed to be the initials of the first owner.
There are a few shallow dents on the sides, but the lid fits snugly and it can be used as a tea caddy (tea leaf container).
